In 1939, Hemenway Concrete Products was founded by Ray Hemenway I.
The company produced concrete steps and ornamental iron. Ray Hemenway I
was a highly respected businessman and active in the DFL party. Serving as
U.S.
Marshall, Hubert Humphrey's campaign manager. He remained active in the party
throughout his entire life. Upon retirement, he opened Bell Antiques and repaired
and sold
antiques.
Ray Hemenway II took over the Iron Works for his father in the
1970's. The company began to
expand the business to include structural steel,
residential and commerial railings, spiral staircases.
Ray Hemenway II expanded the plant over 12,000 sq. ft. In the early
1990's he built Hemenway Storage
offering 70 storage units within 3 buildings.
Ray Hemenway III began working for his father after leaving the
Navy in the 1990's. Ray also opened
Signature House Works doing construction and home repair. Ray now
operates Hemenway Iron Works
with his father, continuing work with structural steel, railings,
and developing new products for residential
and commercial customers. Ray Jr. manages fabrication, estimating
projects, and daily operations. Ray Sr.
continues to estimate projects, and oversee operations.
Kelly Rae Hemenway joined the company in 2008. Kelly has designed
and managed construction projects
for feature films, commercials, and live events since
1987. Hemenway Iron Works now produces
these projects which are featured on our projects page. Kelly and
Ray Jr. have worked together on many
projects over the years, and last year decided to make it a fulltime
collaboration. Kelly contributes to the company
designing new products and helping Ray Jr. with daily operations.
